NUKECHAIR
How does one face the end of the world from the comfort of a living room? This kinetic “body horror” armchair seems perfectly suited to someone like filmmaker David Cronenberg. Built from hyper‑realistic materials resembling burnt skin, human flesh, and bones, it appears to breathe like a living body. Placed beside a sculpture of an atomic mushroom cloud (Mushroom), it carries the physical traces of an extreme explosion. The armchair can also be read as a throne, one on which the figures of power might sit, suggesting that their authority and wealth are built on the crushed and burned bodies of millions. An object meant to offer rest and comfort is transformed into a metaphor for violence in everyday life, revealing how comfort and imminent catastrophe are inseparably bound.
